If you want speed and utility, plus a brand with plenty of cache, the new Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk could be the ideal solution.
Stuffed under the hood is a supercharged 6.2-liter V8. If that sounds familiar, it’s because the very same engine powers the Dodge Charger and Challenger Hellcat twins. Just like the Dodges, the Trackhawk has 707 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque on tap. To keep everything in check, you also get a high-performance cooling system and Brembo brakes. Launch mode helps you take off without spinning the tires too much.
With that setup, you can get moving in a hurry. Jeep says the Trackhawk does 0 to 60 mph in a blistering 3.5 seconds. The SUV doesn’t just accelerate quickly, it also stops in a hurry, going from 60 to 0 in 114 feet. As for the quarter mile, the Trackhawk does it in 11.6 seconds. Its top speed comes in at 180 mph, making it one of the quickest and fastest SUVs.

By now, everyone should know that fully electric vehicles provide full torque output at a standstill. That means explosive acceleration, at least in the short run. The Model X P100D is the most potent version of Tesla’s big boy SUV. It packs 588 horsepower, plus a monstrous 920 lb-ft of torque.

Needless to say, that beats out plenty of performance cars, let alone SUVs. One of these set a world record for a production SUV running the quarter mile, doing it in 11.418 seconds at 117.85 mph. Keep in mind not everyone will see those kinds of times, but it shows the potential, if you have the right tires and conditions.
Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio
A potential contender for the fastest production SUV spot, this fiery Italian is something you might want to put on your short list. Alfa Romeo has a solid reputation for making performance vehicles. While the regular Stelvio is potent, the Quadrifoglio is quite simply a stallion.
The twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 that powers this SUV was developed by Ferrari. Out of so little displacement comes 505 horsepower, making it nothing short of amazing. You can push this SUV to go from 0 to 60 in 3.9 seconds. Top speed comes in at 177 mph, and that’s definitely one of the fastest SUVs.
